Anna messaged asking for me to shoot her wedding a month before the wedding date. Anna and Thomas had only been engaged for a month or so but after realising how big and out of hand things can get very quickly when it comes to weddings, they decided to make it quick and opt for a 2 month engagement with a super small elopement style ceremony and a big party in July. I was by some chance still free on the 8th of June so it was locked in super quick and the photography was sorted. Over the month Anna sent me some photos of the styling she had picked Splash Events to do and the flowers that Noosa Blooms had selected for her. I knew instantly this wedding would be beautiful and because it was an elopement style (only 20 something guests) and it was on a beach in Noosa it was something that would most likely be super fun to photograph.

I was not wrong!

I enlisted the help of budding photographer Lara Anastasia whom I met at Jess + Ben's wedding to come with me and help carry my gear, keep it sand free, keep me company on 3 hour drive and let her bring along her camera to get some photos for her portfolio (she is very talented and I even used a few of her photos in this post). I am so glad I did, because when we got there… It started to rain!!!

And it didn't stop.

It rained so much that the ceremony turned into a quick 5-10 minute thing with just the formalities and we were out of there quick as a flash!

But, rain on your wedding day isn't a bad thing at all. The overcast sky makes for a beautiful dramatic background and the clouds are like giant soft boxes which give off the most flattering light. So instead of dodging shadows and over exposed spots, we were well and truly blessed with incredible flat lighting. And it also made the amazing colours in Anna's bouquet POP!

After the ceremony we walked down to Locale for a few drinks and then captured some reception details at Sails then Lara and I were off on the long trip home and eager anticipation to flick through the photos we took.
